Outreach Committee

The Outreach Committee connects the people of Grace Church with those in need, both close at hand and far away. We offer many types of opportunities to give and to serve throughout the year.

To increase our reach and effectiveness, we work with community partner organizations, including: the Providence In-town Churches Association ("PICA") www.pica1ri.org which offers a food bank and weekly community meal; the HELP Center, which offers a coffee ministry and place to rest down-City; Tanner House Shelter Services, providing transitional housing to those who have been homeless; the Liberian Community Association, sending school and computer supplies to schools there; and a variety of other agencies.

We also join with Diocesan efforts such as the Environmental Stewardship Committee and the Companion Diocese Committee, which links us to the diocese of New Orleans, LA, and of Ezo, Southern Sudan. Hands-on service opportunities include assisting at community meals, making sandwiches for distribution through Crossroads RI, or sorting clothing and household goods for distribution through the International Institute or the HELP Center. We also collect funds and various goods for food and clothing banks, Christmas gifts for children throughout Providence, and donations to the Heifer project.

We meet at 11:30 on the second Sunday of each month, and we welcome new ideas and energetic participation!
