Chalice Bearers, Intercessors & Lectors
In the Episcopal Church there are many ways the
congregation can participate in worship.
A lector is someone who reads the lessons in a church service. As part of the Sunday service, two lectors are assigned to read: one person reads from the Old Testament, and the other reads from the New Testament.
The Prayers of the People are led by an intercessor.
A Chalice-bearer is the person who administers the chalice (the cup used to contain the wine) during Communion. Those who wish to serve in this capacity receive a brief training by the rector.
